12 Parks with Basketball Courts Near Greenville, SC
Whether you played when you were a kid, or taken a bit more seriously by joining a competitive team, we’ve all played basketball at some point in our lives. The idea of it is nostalgic and brings forth so many happy memories.
Whether you want to pick up something you haven’t played in years, or you’re looking for a new spot to hone your basketball skills, here are 11 excellent parks that host basketball courts.
1. Alder Park
This neighborhood park was reestablished with brand new playground equipment in 2014. It’s got picnic shelters, a rectangular pitch for soccer, and of course a basketball court. This local guide can’t get enough of it:
“Alder Park is very peaceful. It is full of new playground equipment for the children. There are always football, soccer and baseball games going on. It is also an excellent place to walk your dog.”
2. Skyland Park
Skyland Park is a crowd favorite that comes with a myriad of amenities. This park features a playground, picnic tables, grills, leashed pets, beautiful open green fields, hiking trails, a football field, and of course a basketball court. Many reviews can’t get enough of it such as the following:
“The best part was the wonderful park with all the paths to walk and beautiful landscaping.”
“This was the perfect place for a hike and afternoon picnic!”
3. Greentown Neighborhood Park
Greentown Neighborhood Park takes pride in its pristine park. They keep it well-manicured and maintained with amenities such as bench swings, a picnic shelter, a paved trail, and our favorite, a basketball court.
Although not as large as Skyland Park, you will enjoy a visit here. Take it from these locals:

4. Arkwright Park
Tucked into a quaint residential area you’ll find Arkwright park. From the outside, it may not look like much, but you’ll soon learn that the playground and open fields are enough for a great day outdoors.
Residents will attest to how great it is to have this park close to home to play basketball and let their kids run off energy. One former local stated that whenever they visit their hometown they have to visit Arkwright Park.
“I grew up in Arkwright and I’ve always driven by when I come in town to visit from Florida where I have lived there over 10 some years”
5. Mcpherson Park
If you’d like to take some time to ground yourself, I recommend visiting Greenville’s oldest park, McPherson Park. Although well-loved, this location looks good as new!
You can count on Greenville to provide the best public recreational places for its citizens and guests. Aside from the historical buildings, playground, walking trails, tennis court, and 18-hole miniature golf course; you know you can find a great basketball court here.
I find one review amusing as they gave this park 4 stars because they wanted it to provide a hotdog truck. Most people are highly satisfied though, as one of the most recent reviews will tell you:
“Awesome little park just a short walk from downtown. They have a small walking trail and mini-golf and different places for a cookout. The bathrooms are nice and clean. They also have tennis courts. This is one of my favorite parks in Greenville!”
6. Cleveland Park
All of these parks put into perspective how large Greenville really is. How else could it fit Cleveland Park’s 120 acres? We can thank The Cleveland Family who donated the land in 1922.
There is something for everyone at this park with amenities stacking up! You’ll not only find basketball courts but tennis courts, volleyball, pickleball, and baseball courts, playgrounds, running trails, bike trails, walking paths, picnic shelters, the Rock Quarry Garden, the Fernwood Nature Trail, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Greenville Zoo.
You almost don’t need any other parks! This tourist agrees with my statement:
“R’n’R right in the middle of the city of Greenville. We got in all our steps, caught the beautiful waterfalls and trails, and got some Spill the Beans ice cream to top it off!!! A full pint BTW, guess I was the first customer of the day to get one. Can you say pig???🤣 A must-do for anyone that’s just looking to get out and away from life’s commotion, bravo Greenville!”
7. Sunset Park
This outdoor space is a beautiful park with a great playground to match its name. Kids love running around the sunset-colored jungle gym. Many rate this park as the best for small children as one mom says:
“This park is perfect for smaller kids ages 5 and under. I feel more confident letting my kids run around on their own here than in any other park. almost all the equipment is low to the ground, except for the slides.
“There is more than one park here and a trail. you can let your kids run around the fields if they aren’t in use by local clubs.”
“Parks like this are what give Greenville its charm.”
I’d agree with her, all of the parks on our list add to the overall culture of Greenville! Sunset Park is not only a perfect place for small children but also gives players with special needs a space to have fun!
“Great park with easy parking and a great field for very special athletes. Many veterans in wheelchair league today proud to watch.”
8. Stewart Park
With Stewart Park, you’re going to have plenty to do. Go for the outdoor basketball court and stay for the splash pad. Bring your kids to get some relief from the heat as you shoot some hoops close by.
You’ll also find a large open field to play soccer, frisbee, or simply run around. When your kids are done with the splash pad let them dry off with the swings and playground as you set up lunch at the picnic table. One happy father reported:
“Me and my family love this park. We go at least once a month to let the kids play half the day. It’s a great park and is so Family much fun!”
9. Southside Park
Talk about a place for ballgames! Southside Park has SIXTEEN courts for pickleball and tennis courts alone. There are rectangular fields for soccer and football, and several tournament-quality basketball courts for your practicing needs. This park is an exciting place to visit as a testament from its hundred of thousands of yearly visitors.
“I love this park, it’s nice and clean warm, and welcoming. I would highly recommend people to check this park out for great entertainment like a birthday party. You can even set back and enjoy grilling out its so many things to do check it out you’re going to love it too! Admission to the waterpark is a decent price so I want to check it out the next time I visit”
Did we forget to mention that Southside Park is home to a waterpark? You know, just in case Stewart Park’s splash pad wasn’t enough water fun for you. Definitely worth the time of locals and tourists alike.
10. Mauldin City Park
Mauldin City Park is conveniently placed in downtown Greenville. It may not be the most glamorous park, but it has plenty to offer.
Many locals don’t have to go far to find a place to play basketball, work out, or bring their kids here to play. While some say the park needs work, most will tell you that it deserves 5-star ratings.
“This destination has a senior center, baseball fields, & a walking path around the fields. There is even a farmers market next to the park. Some area events take place here. Great place to picnic with a kid’s playground.”
11. North Main Rotary Park
This park may not offer a lot of open fields, but it gives value within its location. Many guests have described it as a “sanctuary.”
“Nice shady park in the North Main area of Greenville. There is a playground for the kids with some swings and slides, a pavilion with some picnic tables, a basketball court, and a baseball field. Good for a stroll through in the evening of a quick break with the kids to play. A lovely sanctuary”
It gets its quiet and peaceful ambiance from being nestled into a lower elevation tucked into North Main street. But don’t let the quiet and size fool you, it offers just as many amenities:

12. Gower Estates Park
Gower Park is a 21-acre all-purpose luxury recreational facility open to the public! It has everything from softball fields to tennis/pickleball courts.
It also has basketball courts, playgrounds, picnic shelters, a disc golf field, and even a horseshoe pit. No one leaves this park disappointed.
“Very nice Park!! Tennis and basketball courts. A nice playground and wide-open fields to play frisbee or run around”
“Nice clean park with an awesome playground for kids and a nice disc golf course, ball fields, tennis courts, and basketball courts. Also picnic tables with shelters.”
“Nice park. Newer playgrounds. The basketball court has nice goals and a good surface… Frisbee golf course is really good as well.”
