4th of July Fireworks in the Upstate (2023)
When I was growing up, my family enjoyed seeing the fireworks downtown. But there was a time when the show wasn’t always a must-see event in the Upstate. Back in 2012, locals were very disappointed with how the show went. But the city has definitely stepped up its game since then. The fireworks show last year at Unity Park definitely could have rivaled any big city in the country.
I was lucky to be able to see the whole thing from my downtown apartment. And Greenville will be back at it again this year with more fireworks and fun. But if you don’t want to be downtown, there’s plenty of other areas in the Upstate to see a great show. Here’s where you can see fireworks in Greenville, SC and throughout the upstate on 4th of July
Fireworks in Greenville SC on July 4th 2023

1. Fireworks on the Fourth, Greenville
If you missed your chance last year, you have another chance to see the amazing display I saw. Fireworks on the Fourth is once again being held at Unity Park. The event will feature the 246 Army Band and a whole bunch of food trucks. It’ll start at 6 p.m. and last until 10 p.m.
2. Greer Freedom Blast
If you’ve done the downtown Greenville 4th of July thing and want something different, check out the Greer Freedom Blast. It’ll be an event honoring our veterans. Come watch the community come together at Greer City Park to thank our men and women for their service. And the event will of course be capped off with some amazing fireworks.
3. City of Spartanburg Red, White and Boom
Depending on where you are, you can take a quick 20 to 30 minute drive to see the Spartanburg Independence Day Celebration. Come out to Barnet Park for some great food, live performances, and a fireworks finale that’ll start at 9:35 PM.
Local Events with Fireworks in July
Two other local Independence Day events will be happening before the 4th of July. Consider taking time to check them out if you’re free.
Simpsonville Simply Freedom Fest
Originally known as Celebrate Simpsonville, it was rebranded to Simply Freedom Fest to reflect the celebration of Independence Day. The event will be held at CCNB Amphitheatre at Heritage Park on July 2nd. It’ll start at 6 PM and will feature a performance by country music singer Josh Turner.
Fountain Inn Fourth of July Spectacular
If you’re looking for something fun to do on the 1st of July, the Fountain Inn Fourth of July Spectacular is just the place to be. The event on Fountain Inn’s Main Street will feature live music and a free kid’s area that includes laser tag. There will also be food trucks and fireworks as well.
Where to Get Fireworks in Greenville SC
Another fun thing my family and I used to do on 4th of July was have our own fireworks show. Walk up with some sparklers and light one of those screaming ones that would go really high in the air and pop. If you’re down for that, here’s where you can get those:
1. Carolina Fireworks of Greenville
The place I grew up getting fireworks at is surprisingly still there. They’ve got lots of different stuff from spinners to parachutes. Check them out to see if they something you’ll like.
2. BOOM Fireworks LLC
Never shopped this place before, but they get all 5 stars and google, and average 4.6 stars on Facebook. WYFF News 4 did a nice story on BOOM a few years ago about all their proceeds going towards helping young women in Ethiopia get basic needs and learn trades. I imagine decent people like that will have some pretty decent fireworks too.
