2023 Reedy River Duck Derby
The 2023 Reedy River Duck Derby in Greenville, SC is an annual event that’s been around for nearly 20 years.
This year will be the 19th edition of the event. It’s sponsored by the Rotary Club of the Reedy River Greenville.
But if you’ve been reading this far, you’re probably wondering what this duck derby is all about. Here’s what to know.
The Derby of the Ducks
The event will occur on May 6th, 2023, between 11 am and 4 pm. The race itself will begin at 2:30 pm.
Thoousands of rubber ducks going down the reedy river in a race to the bottom. People adopt a duck or a pack of ducks and get a chance to win prizes.
The cutoff for adoptions will be at 1:45 PM or whenever the goal 14,000 ducks adopted is reached. The winners will be drawn and posted on the website later that day. The prizes that can be won include:
- Groceries for a year
- $2500 cash
- Golf weekend for two
Along with the race occurring, there will be I’ve music, balloon twisting, face painting, food trucks, and yard games. It can be a fun event for the whole family.
All the proceeds go to nonprofits that help to serve the community. Some of the ones that were supported in the previous year’s race were:
- Carolina Youth Symphony
- Augustine Literacy Project of the Upstate
- Habitat for Humanity
Currently, the price is 10$ for a duck and $30 for a quack pack of 4. There’s adlso an option for a raft of 10 ducks that costs about 70$.
